How indexation impacts strategic considerations

Since the introduction of the transfer balance cap we have seen the general cap be indexed on two occasions with an expectation that it will again be indexed to $2m from 1 July 2025. When the general cap indexes it creates opportunities linked to both contribution and pension strategies, but past activities can lead to complexities and potential errors that are best avoided.

In this webinar, Tim Miller from Smarter SMSF will explore the impact of indexation on an individual’s personal transfer balance cap when they are in the retirement phase and also how it can impact various contribution strategies such as the bring-forward contribution strategy.  He will also explore how the transfer balance cap interacts with other indexation considerations as the traps of ill-informed strategies.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this webinar, participants will have, amongst other things, an appreciation for:

  • How personal transfer balance caps are indexed
  • How the general transfer balance cap can impact existing bring-forward contribution strategies
  • The ramifications of getting it wrong in relation to the transfer balance cap
  • Other indexation considerations beyond the general transfer balance cap
